The School Site
Thorpe House is located along Oval Way in Gerrards Cross and the Pre-Prep, Junior and Senior schools are adjacent to one another. There are separate playing fields located in Priory Road, about half a mile from the main school.
The Pre-Prep is a single story building with seven modern and very colourful classrooms, a bright, spacious hall, a playground and a large field with outdoor play equipment.
The Junior School has ten classrooms, two Science laboratories, a gymnasium/hall, a computer suite, library, playground and specialist areas for music, art and design technology. There is also a dining room and an outdoor heated swimming pool adjacent to the site.
The Senior School or Heywood House as it's known houses classrooms for boys in Year 9, 10 and 11 and the senior boys are based here except for when being taught in specialist rooms and attending assemblies or lunch.
The school has interactive whiteboards in every room, there is a hard wired network for classroom computers and also a wireless network which allows pupils to access the school's system via laptops or computers from anywhere in the school.
The playing field at Priory Road is a seven acre site owned and used solely by the Thorpe House. There are four full size pitches, a hard tennis court and a large pavilion for changing and after match entertainment. The school minibuses are used for the two minute trip to the playing fields from the school sites.
The school day is arranged in such a way that the main school playground is never in use by Senior and Junior boys at the same time. Lunch in the dining room is organised so that the Pre-Prep boys eat first followed by the Juniors and then the Seniors. However, Junior and Senior boys encounter one another moving around the site on a regular basis and we actively encourage the older boys to get involved with the younger ones. The Pre-Prep boys spend nearly all their day on their own site but come up to the main school for lunch and for swimming (Reception upwards).
