Academic
During the Pre-Prep years, mornings are spent learning the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic with time included for outdoor play, weather permitting. After lunch play, the boys become involved in a variety of activities covering a wide range of curriculum areas. In total the boys study English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Design Technology (DT), Music, PE, History, Geography, Art, Music, PE, ICT and RE.
The focus of our curriculum is to ensure that our boys develop the essential literacy and numeracy skills from an early age, alongside a variety of subjects that will extend their knowledge and understanding as well as their creativity.
- develop their basic skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening;
- gain understanding in a broad range of subjects;
- learn to play together and develop effective learning strategies;
- be provided with opportunities to develop leadership skills.
Homework is gradually introduced to the boys, starting in the Reception class, and is intended to extend learning that takes place in the classroom, as well as fostering vital independent learning skills. Boys will take home reading books each day to share with parents and to read independently.
